Nannie Leila Sevier

Nannie L. Sevier was born in Jonesborough, Washington County, Tennessee, in 1853. Her father and grandfather were early East Tennessee physicians and surgeons. Her mother and only full brother died when she was six years old.

While attending North Western College in Naperville, Illinois, Nannie lived with her great-uncle, Reverend Dr. John Whitfield Cunningham, and her aunt (her father's older sister), Elizabeth Sevier Cunningham. Dr. J. W. Cunningham was an early Presbyterian minister in East Tennessee and Indiana. His last pastorate was the Congregational Church in Naperville, IL.

Nannie married classmate Guy Ellis Sabin in the Centennial year of 1876 in Jonesborough, Tennessee. Contributed by Pat Sabin
