Georgian Terrace Hotel 1912
Postmarked 1912

The Georgian Terrace Hotel  was built in 1911 as a luxury hotel.  Clark Gable and Vivian Leigh stayed here while attending the 1939 premier of "Gone With The Wind".  After years of neglect, the hotel closed in 1981.  It was reopened in 1997 as an upscale apartment building, and is now being converted back to a hotel offering suites and apartments.  Hotel Website.  The hotel is said to be on the National Register of Historic places, but I haven't located it on the list.

The message on this postcard:  Addressed to Mrs. J. E. Barry, 823 W. Main, Knoxville, Tenn. "Arrived all right, Trains awfully croded. Had to stand up to chattanooga.  Am going to see managers this afternoon.  Leave for Macon this afternoon at 5:30.  Am well, Hope you both are. Love to all. Herbert."
