Welcome to East
Tennessee! The photograph
is of the Nolichucky River, between Erwin and Jonesborough.
Our roots are buried deep in the hills of
East Tennessee.
My mother's families, descendants of Frederick Tillman White and
Jesse Davis, were present in Greene Country prior to 1800 and remained
there when other family members migrated west to Kansas and
Missouri.
My father was born in Jonesboro
(Jonesborough), the home of
his Sevier
and Cunningham ancestors. The Cunningham, Sevier, Galbreath and
Blair
families were early settlers of Washington and Greene Counties.
Captain
Robert Sevier, my 4th Great Grandfather and younger brother of General
John Sevier, died from wounds received at the Battle of King's
Mountain.
My East Tennessee families and projects have
become so
many, I thought it would be helpful to create a "Gateway" site for my
East
Tennessee research, including my family Gedcoms, early 1900
photographs,
vintage postcards of East Tennessee towns, and the "public" ETN web
sites
I host. Enjoy your visit!
Most of my history, genealogy, and vintage postcard sites are indexed
on THIS PAGE.
NOTE: I am cleaning house and
"recycling" some of my genealogy and history materials, including
several out-of-print books about East Tennessee and it's people.
Two hard to find books are "Sevier Family History," and "Historic
Greene County Tennessee and Its People." I'll probably be adding
a few more books and vintage postcards for sale, and they'll be listed
here: Genealogy Books
For Sale .
