This information about the Nesbit family and the family home was contributed by Mr. George Reed who is married to Penelope, daughter of Noye H. Nesbit, descendant on her maternal side, of the Raineys of Norcross .
Mr. Nesbit lived at 256 Thrasher Street. The house was built around 1917 and the floor joists are from a cotton mill ca 1900. Mr. Nesbit's uncle, built the house. After his death ca 1989, we sold the house to someone whose name is not readily available. My wife and I have visited Mr Nesbit many times, mostly in the summer times. For your information, the house does not have central heat, nor air conditioning (when he owned it) and I do not know if such as been installed by the new owner(s). I cannot remember the name of the nearest street that crosses Thrasher. This crossing is the crossing just south of the main crossing that goes into the business section. This crossing is the crossing just south of the old railroad station.
Anyway, Mr. Nesbit was born ca 1890 on Thrasher street, the third house southward which now has been demolished by the paper company. The house was demolished about 5 yrs ago, I'd say, perhaps a little longer. It was the home of Curtis Nesbit, deceased.
He was the FIRST supt of the Gwinnett County Water Works in Duluth...where they lived, next to the facility, a short while during the start up of this facility. It was after this tenure that they moved to 256 Thrasher Street, ca 196?, three doors north of where he was born.
